I thought I’d go over the benefits of the lunchtime facelift or what we professionally call the microcurrent facial. Microcurrent is an option or maybe an initial step in lieu of Botox injections and/or surgical face lift, nip or tuck. With that said, the microcurrent is deemed as the non-surgical, non-invasive facelift.

What does it do?
- Lifts, tones and improves the texture of your skin.
- Diminishes if not eliminates fine lines and wrinkles.
- Improves circulation by stimulating the face muscles and moving stagnant energy.
- No pain! You feel basically nothing but the probes sliding across your face over a water based gel.
- No downtime. In 30-50 minutes you will be on your way. No swelling, bruises or anything. No healing time required. It won’t be obvious to friends, family or colleagues that you’ve had anything done other than you look younger. : )
How does it do it’s thing?
Microcurrent technology was originally discovered for medical purposes such as improving conditions like Bells Palsy and over time became an aesthetic tool in the beauty industry for toning facial muscles. If you don’t know, as we age, the muscles atrophy and loose Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP) the energy of skin cells and muscle tissue causing sagging and loss of definition. The microcurrent stimulates these muscles mainly targeting these muscles around the jaw, chin, neck but also the crows feet around the eyes and furrows between the eyebrows. It’s a workout for the face and you don’t have to do anything but RELAX.

In my treatment room at www.stevehightower.com I professionally perform these microcurrent facials on my clientele using the Myolift model or NuFACE microcurrent handheld device which I show above. NuFACE is small, easy to maneuver and can be purchased for personal use at home. I’d seek professional treatment first just to get the idea and ensure this is something you would like to do and invest in for at-home use. This is a treatment that really should be done consistently for consistent results. Remember it’s a workout for your face. One workout every other week is nice and you may feel good afterward and probably see some temporary change depending on the type of workout you do and how in shape you currently are be but there are no ongoing results. So start out your microcurrent facials at 2-3 times per week for a month then once a week for a month then may 1-2 times a month as a maintenance. Make sure you are healthy and have healthy skin. When in doubt see your physician or ask your Esthetician or make an appointment for a consultation regarding any possible questions and concerns.
