It’s June, and it’s almost officially Summer so the skin we are in needs TLC through these hot and muggy summer months. What does that look like for you, me, us??? Pretty easy with a few simple steps and products so follow along…
Do wear your SPF. Don’t have any, get some for your face and body. Use of sunscreen is imperative even on these June gloom days. Apply SPF every two hours when out and about. To minimize irritation or breakouts, use the physical SPF or mineral powder on your face for less sensitivity.
Cleanse your face with a facial cleanser, NOT soap. Soap can be over drying and cause irritation, be gentle to your face, it’s the only one you have. Cleanse twice, the first to remove makeup, the second to cleanse the skin.
Exfoliate with a facial scrub or a cleanser that has AHA’s (chemical exfoliants) like glycolic or salicylic acid to slough off dead skin and keep your face clear and bright. Do so 2-3 times weekly.
Follow up with a Toner. Now it doesn’t have to be anything fancy, or it can be. Use witch hazel if you like but a Toner will get rid of any dirt/residue that your cleanser may leave behind as well as balance out the pH in your skin after being stripped a bit from the cleanser.
Apply an occasional mask once or twice weekly something that either hydrates, brightens or detoxifies, depending on your skin type. For normal to dry, hydrate and moisturize and/or brighten. For normal to oily, a brightening or detox mask would be good. It all depends on what’s happening with your skin. When in doubt, ask your Esthetician. Which leads to my next suggestion for good skin…
Last but not least, DO love the skin you’re in and invest in an Esthetician. You don’t have to go monthly but at lease every 3 months. Learn about and invest in quality skincare products in between facials.
