La Jolla, Ca: Local Beauty and Skincare

I was recently hired on as an Esthetics Educator at a local beauty academy, so what started off as a field trip with the class turned onto a deeper mission. There are quite a few cool skincare spots in La Jolla, California, so I decided to get the info and share them with you. As in: 1) who they are, 2) where they are located and 3) what I like most about them. Maybe you’ll check them out soon.

Benefit Cosmetics Boutique La Jolla – Up until not too long ago I used to work at the Benefit Cosmetics Boutique in La Jolla, so how could I not share it with you. From the super cute packaging to the waxing services and friendly nature of the staff, Benefit is a go-to for all things brows and makeup. Not to mention they do spray tans!  It’s a stand alone boutique of only Benefit products, so the experience surpasses that of  an Ulta or Macy’s Brow Bar. They also offer more services than just brow waxing. The prices are super reasonable too! http://www.benefit.com

Blue Mercury – How I love them! They are right up the street from Benefit. Everyone loves a little competition huh. Different strokes for different folks and I love them both for their own unique-ness. So many awe inspiring brands packaged just right that you feel like you must buy. Blue Mercury carries organic brands as well as mainstream makeup products. They also have a full service spa offering facials and waxing as ell as their branded products called Lune and Aster and M-61. Try the M-61 PowerGlow Peel pads! Lux services + products I am familiar with and adore in an easy going environment. More please! http://www.bluemercury.com

Credo – I stumbled upon Credo by accident awhile back when strolling the newly revamped UTC La Jolla Westfield mall. Well I finally made it back there to really check it out so I could tell you all about it. I knew Credo was located in LA and online as I have recommended them on my free beauty resource list, so I was excited to see a location here in San Diego. This store is a clean beauty bar that carries various product lines which are all focused on clean, organic and natural beauty. The staff is pretty welcoming and it’s a nice change from the norm as they do clean beauty consultations, events, makeup and express facials. Their mottos is, “Believe in better beauty.”  http://www.credobeauty.com

Pharmaca – Oooh I enjoy coming here, especially when I could just walk down the street during my lunch when I worked at Benefit. From clean beauty brands to an assortment of essential oils and diffusers you will find a more simplistic, no frills feel at Pharmaca. Somehow I feel like I am serving the earth when shopping at there. This spot may or may not be your style but its worth checking out. I enjoy going here to sample products and re-up on essential oils I use during my facial service experience.

100% Pure – I stumbled upon them as they are also newly located in UTC Las Jolla Westfield mall. I found 100% Pure to be such a clean and calm island vibe. So many fruity scented body gels, lotions and sprays to choose from. It reminds me of a more chill, less strong fragrant version of Bath and Body Works (not sure if that’s good or bad but it is my observation). They also have a makeup line of powders, shadows, mascaras, lipsticks etc. They provide facials, LED and facial waxing services in store. It is a good place to ignite the senses and know you are shopping in a store that derives their product from natural sources. http://www.100percentpure.com

The Secret Spa – Botox anyone?! The Secret Spa is more of a medical spa option with professional, results driven skincare products. They do Botox, fillers, facial peels, laser hair removal, vein treatments to name a few. The staff was welcoming and informational. What better place to get such services then in La Jolla and keep it a secret! http://www.thesecretclinic.com

Blush Spray Tan – Such a cute spot on the rooftop of a newly remodeled corner building in downtown Lajolla. Blush Tan is a healthier way to be bronzed, providing organic full and half body spray tans along with products that keep it fresh. A tan so good you won’t need blush! Sounds good to me, especially in attending Summer weddings, events, the Del Mar races or happy hour near the beach. Not to mention they are in the same building as Shannon’s, the kids clothing store owned by Kris Kardashian’s mom. So you could even step in there for a quick looksie. http://www.blushtan.com/lajolla

Just a couple years ago it seemed I had to go to LA for my clean beauty explorations and options. San Diego is really stepping up and its just so fun to see the growth and explore.

Currently trending in my daily beauty bag is Supergoop Invincibel Setting Powder 100% Mineral SPF 45, Supergoop setting mist sunscreen SPF 50 from Blue Mercury, and Rituel de Fille Inner Glow Creme Pigment in Nymph for a swipe of color to add life to my  cheeks and lips on a beauty weekend when less is more.

Do you have a favorite skincare or beauty store in La Jolla or San Diego County? Please share in the comments below, I’d love to add them to my list of places to visit.
