Beauty, The Body, and Life, Oh My!

Turning pro is a mindset. If we are struggling with fear, self-sabotage, procrastination, self-doubt, etc., the problem is, we’re thinking like amateurs. Amateurs don’t show up. Amateurs crap out.  Amateurs let adversity defeat them. The pro thinks differently. He shows up, he does his work, he keeps on truckin’, no matter what. -Steven Pressfield

My life the past couple, well few weeks…

Affirmations – “My Body is Beautiful.” or  “I am enough.” or  “The universe is rigged in my favor!” These are just some of the affirmations that I use on a regular basis. Most others that I use are close to my heart and only intended for my own self-care and private daily review. When I take my walks I say to myself, “My body is beautiful.” It does nothing but makes me smile every time. Keep that in mind.

Body Image – We are all unique and deserve to relish in who and what we are as imperfectly perfect. We do not have to be or look one way in order to be loved, adored and admired for who and what we are.

Self-doubt – When life drastically changes and all you have to go on is faith it can increase an insurmountable amount of doubt about yourself, your decisions and just your overall being. Keep the faith, go back to your aspirations or back to whatever your positive reinforcements may be. Live and act as if you are the vision you are planning to be.

Intuitive Eating –  You can do this! Be in tune to what you want to eat, not what your mind thinks it wants but what your body wants, tune into what foods it is truly craving so it will be satiated rather than over eat because it is not satisfied. Practice increases chances of perfection. Remaining mindful and aware is key.

Keeping It Simple – Simple as in minimal. Having and creating more with less. Less clutter and less ownership of possessions in general while also working on the mindset of being okay with keeping it simple in my life without comparison or feeling in less than while everyone else is keeping up with the Joneses. I am clearing out space for the new…new things, new people,  new opportunities,  new space and a new mind for a better business and life that I love. I have even consulted an interior decorator for my in-home makeup and skincare treatment room for ‘House of Vine: A Beauty and Skincare Establishment’ launching in mid-November for my private and privileged clientele… Open house to come and I hope to see you there! ; ))

Check out this awesome and straight forward video with Michael Strahan speaking on how he encourages his self and tackling his accomplishments.

Recently, I had to scrap up 15 models (everyday gals) to practice applying eyelash extensions to get my initial training completed for a new position. It was the most discouraging task at first look but once I told myself I can do this, I started reaching out to my past makeup clients and a few friends which snowballed into those clients contacting their friends and my few friends contacting their friends and spreading the word. Funny how those that barely know you seem to work harder for you than the ones that really know you. At least it seems to work that way for me which is why I was initially so anxious about this task. I really think that means or says something (not sure exactly what yet but I’m keeping aware of it). Anywho, God is good because after what I thought was going to be a horrible outcome, turned out to my schedule being fully booked in no time! I even had more people than I needed! It was the best ah-ha-hells-yes-moment and made me realize I will excel in building my own business with consistent effort outside of my comfort zone, hard work, grit and finding love for the process. Enjoy the hustle, submit to it, whatever ‘it’ is…
